Cranberry Sauce with Port

We’ve tried a lot of cranberry sauce recipes, and this one is the winner. Super simple, and the port adds just the right sweetness and sophistication.

Makes about 2 cups

Ingredients

1 cup ruby port
1 cup sugar
1 12 oz bag fresh cranberries

Instructions

  1. Put all ingredients in a saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until sugar has fully dissolved.
  2. Lower heat and simmer until liquid reaches a syrupy consistency, about 20 minutes, and most of the cranberries have split. Stir occasionally, and mash the cranberries a bit with a slotted spoon.
  3. Remove from heat, and let cool completely before serving. Can be made the day before, and refrigerated.
